What

The Kokofloat is a weekend long event filled with camping, delicious food, and your chance to hang out with us and a ton of other fellow packrafters. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends to paddle with and explore new rivers. After paddling, food and beverages will be provided, campfires lit and stories will be shared of tips and tricks about packrafting and whatever else you can think of. It’s our way of saying thank you for the past 12 years and to look forward to many more to come.

Food and drink?

Food — YES! We’ll be taking care dinner on Friday night, breakfast Saturday AM and dinner Saturday PM, and breakfast on Sunday AM, courtesy of some of our favorite Colorado partners.

You’ll be on your own for Thursday night and Friday AM.

Drinks — Of course! We’ll provided water, coffee, juice, beer and wine for the weekend starting on Friday evening.

CAMPING, SLEEPING, PARKING

We will be camping in the lower parking lot of Sunlight Mountain. That means tents, car tents, campers, overlanding vehicles, RV’s and more are welcomed and highly encouraged. The parking lot is GRAVEL, yes gravel, so please come prepared with the appropriate camping equipment. Also since we are car camping and it can get chilly, don't hesitate to bring extra warm blankets and clothes just in case.

When you arrive signs will point you towards the parking lot where a Kokopelli employee (usually in some brightly colored shirt) will help you find a parking and camping spot.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?

Yes, dogs are more than welcome but they will need to be on their best furry behavior, be on leash and picked up after. Other than that, Fido is more than welcome to join. Colorado can be very hot in the summer so know that leaving your dog at camp is a risk because of weather. We HIGHLY recommend not leaving your dog at camp, unless a friend of family member will be staying with them while you’re gone. Also some of the rivers have some bigger rapids that are not dog friendly, so if you plan to paddle with your pup, we recommend one of the mellow sections or on a lake.

TOILETS AND SHOWERS?

  • Yes, portable toilets will be available, as well as hand wash stations.
  • Showers will not be on site.

The Water Around Us

  • The rivers surrounding Glenwood Springs range from Class 1-3. September is usually a lower flow month but is variable due to dam releases, winter snowpack, and more. There are some nearby lakes that we can paddle at as well.

Some of the sections are :

Grizzly Creek Section of the Colorado (Class 1/2)

Lower Roaring Fork River (Class 2)

Shoshone Section of the Colorado (Class 3)

Check out this link from the American White Water River Guide to find out more about the water that surrounds us.
